Primoz Novsak

Solist, professor and first violinist of the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zurich

Born in ljubljana, Slovenia, Primoz Novsak now lives in Switzerland. The violinist began public performances at an early age and was a student of Igor Ozim , Max Rostal and Henryk Szerjng . Prizes in major competitions, e.g. in Cologne and Prague, paved his way for an international career. He made appearances at important festivals in Helsinki, Schwetzingen, Chimay and Lucerne, as well as tours of Europe, Japan, the USA and the former USSR. Primoz Novsak worked with famous conductors such as Kondrashin, Kletzki and Wallberg. On several recordings he shows his musical talent as well as technical abilities as a violoinist. In Schwitzerland Primoz Novsak worked at first violinist for the basel Symphonic Orchestra and the Collegium Musicum Zurich. In 1987 has was appointed professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik of Cologne where he teaches chamber music. Primoz Novsak ist first violinist of the Tonhalle orchestra of Zurich, and leader of the Zurich String Sextet.
